The rain drizzled most of Australia Day, and Pittwater was full of weekend sailors, and campers at Coasters Retreat being ferried back to shore with camping equipment and loads of kids, by the numerous Water Taxis and Hire Barges. We picked up Graham and Marguarite (Barquita – Sistership) up for the day and headed off for Rufuge and lunch. We spent most of the afternoon chatting about what we had and what Barquita has. .. . then it was time to go back closer to home and we picked up a mooring at Towlers Bay. To my surprise just astern of us was Wave Sweeper, May and Geoff Owler, Cruising Division members so the invitation went out and Happy Hour was aboard Opal Lady. Afterwards we enjoyed a Roast Duck dinner and Bread and Butter Puddings for dessert. It was after 9pm when Graham called the Water Taxi to take them back to Church Point. Yesterday we had the inverter fixed, apparently a fuse within the inverter was not secured and blew, it was all done by lunch and then we borrowed their car to go shopping! Our tinny needed a tender!!!! So we now have(on top of the tinny .. .a Zodiac and 3.3hp Mercury that Alan can hand pull up onto the boat deck, for those quick trips to shore or Happy Houring on other boats). returning to Coasters Alan did the first engine oil change (100hours) whilst I cooked dinner, with everything stowed away we retired early ready for a 3am rise! The motor was fired up at 3am and flat calm seas awaited us near the heads as we took a righty and headed south. It wasn’t long before I climbed up to the pilothouse berth and slept a few more hours, then Alan put the fishing lines out before he went downstairs for a snooze. The code for him to come back on deck is when I sound the horn. . . which in this case was only an hour gone and one of the fishing rods went off. . . .a Huge Marlin jumping and dancing on his tail behind us, that would have been 3 + m long, but alas after a 15min fight Alan lost. Now 5pm and we are abeam of Point Perpendicular / Jervis Bay with 2 m seas, 15- 20 knt Northerlies. Very comfortable!
