Bound for the Louisiades!!

Saturday 11th September, sunny 15knt easterly and the excitment was high amongst the 25 skippers and their crew as they await the final weather briefing and hearty breakfast on the verandah of the Yorkeys Knob Boat Club.

With all the formalities out of the way we prepared to shake the docklines and proceed through the marina entrance and head for Green Island. Here we turned to port and headed out Grafton Passage. By 5pm we had cleared Euston Reef light and were proceeding to Duchateau. 3days and 12 hours at 6 knots.

My blog entries are behind as it has been absolute mayhem the past few weeks. But I hope to make amends and have the trip log posted as soon as we get back at the end of October. We don’t have internet whilst away(unless I can bargan with one of the other yachts who do!!)

Opal Lady has already been nicknamed the ‘freighter’ and we are well and truley loaded up like one! The waterline. . . what waterline, its well under!!!!! We have donations on board from Electrodry Newcastle, The Toy Wharehouse, the Battery Shop in Cairns and many others! The boat deck is loaded with 20 patio chairs and a few long tables as well as some solar indoor lighting systems. The guest cabin is fullyloaded with huge bags of donated clothing!

Until we return . . we hope everyone stays safe!
